Long Term Residential Care
Long-term care (LTC) is aimed at supporting both the medical and non-medical needs of individuals with a chronic illness or disability who cannot care for themselves for long periods of time.
The Needs Assessment Panel (NAP) meets weekly on a Thursday in Guernsey and is attended by the assessing Social Worker, who presents the individuals needs assessment to the panel, who then make a decision on suitability for either Respite or Long Term Care Certification.
Care Co-payments
If certified as appropriate for Long Term Residential Care the individual is required to pay a contribution towards their care on top of Social Security's awarded benefit called a 'co-payment'.
The 2024 co-payment fees (for those who do qualify for a Long Term Care Certificate) under this arrangement are,
- Residential Long Term Care at the Connaught or Jubilee; £327.32
- This includes 24hr support with any personal care needs, laundry, all bills (heating, TV licence, ambulance subscription etc.), daily room cleaning, three meals per day including snacks, activities and entertainment.
Private Respite and Residential Care
There are a number of short term and long term options for a stay at the Connaught and Jubilee if individuals do not meet the criteria for Respite or Long Term Care or haven't been a resident of the Bailiwick for 5 years. The current cost for care packages in the Connaught and Jubilee are,
- Long Term or Respite Residential Care at the Connaught or Jubilee; £936.39 per week
- This includes 24hr support with any personal care needs, laundry, all bills (heating, TV license, ambulance subscription etc), daily room cleaning, three meals and snacks, and entertainment.
Fees are reviewed annually in line with Guernsey Social Services guidelines. Residential respite day and overnight stay at the Connaught is £128.16 (includes 3 meals and snacks/tea/coffee, the option to have an assisted bath, all personal care and entertainment).
Residential day rate at the Connaught (morning to evening) is £75.20 which includes a midday meal, the option to have an assisted bath, and entertainment (examples being crafts, music, chair yoga), or the rate for a half day is £37.60.
